Pharmacological action:
It is a 4-aminoquinoline derivative with similar pharmacological and antimalarial effects as chloroquine. However, its effect on vivax malaria is less than that of chloroquine, and its effect on falciparum malaria is better than that of chloroquine.

Pharmacokinetics:
After oral administration, the product is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. This product is rapidly transformed into active metabolite noramodiquine in liver. Only a very small amount of technical drug was excreted with urine. The plasma elimination half-life of noradiquiine varied greatly (1-10 days or longer). The drug and its metabolites could be detected in urine several months after administration.

Indications:
It is mainly used for the treatment of acute attack of chloroquine falciparum malaria.

Matters needing attention:
Long term application can make nails, hard palate and skin turn blue gray.

Adverse reactions:
1. Similar to chloroquine. 2. This product can cause hepatitis. 3. When used to prevent malaria, the incidence of agranulocytosis is very high. 4. Early individual reports showed that severe neutropenia occurred when the product was used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, and a large number of cases occurred when the product was used for the prevention of malaria in 1986. 5. The toxicity of this product seems to be different from that of chloroquine. The overdose of this product does not cause symptoms of cardiovascular toxicity, and the incidence of poisoning of this product is far lower than that of chloroquine. However, large doses of this product can cause syncope, ankylosis, convulsion and involuntary movement.
