Penicillin can also be used to treat:
1. Epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis.
2. Actinomycosis.
3. Gonorrhea.
4. Person's angina.
5. Lyme disease.
6. Pasteurella infection.
7. Rat bites heat.
8. Listeria infection.
9. Many anaerobic infections other than Bacteroides fragilis.
Penicillin can be used to prevent infective endocarditis in patients with rheumatic heart disease or congenital heart disease before oral, dental, gastrointestinal or genitourinary tract surgery and operation.
Adverse reactions:
1.Allergic reaction: penicillin allergic reaction is common, including urticaria and other skin rashes, leukopenia, interstitial nephritis, asthma attack and serum type reactions; allergic shock is occasionally seen, and once it occurs, it must be rescued on the spot, and treatment measures such as keeping airway smooth, oxygen inhalation and using epinephrine and glucocorticoid should be taken.
2.Toxic reaction: rare, but when intravenous drip of large dose of this product or intrathecal administration, it may cause convulsion, muscle clonus, coma and severe mental symptoms (penicillin encephalopathy) due to the high concentration of cerebrospinal fluid. This reaction is more common in infants, the elderly and patients with renal insufficiency.
3.Herschel reaction and treatment contradiction: when penicillin is used to treat syphilis, leptospirosis and other diseases, the symptoms can be aggravated due to pathogen death, which is called Herschel reaction; the treatment contradiction is also found in syphilis patients, which is caused by the rapid disappearance of syphilis after treatment, and the tissue repair is relatively slow, or the fiber tissue contraction at the lesion site, which hinders organ function.
4.Double infection: penicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus, gram negative bacilli or Candida can occur.
5.High dose penicillin sodium can lead to heart failure due to intake of large amount of sodium salt.
Contraindications: penicillin allergy history or penicillin skin test positive patients are prohibited.
Matters needing attention:
1.Before using this product, it is necessary to inquire about the history of drug allergy in detail and conduct penicillin skin test. The skin test solution contains 500 units of penicillin per 1 ml, and 0.05-0.1 ml is injected intradermal. After 20 minutes, the results of skin test are observed, and those with positive reaction are prohibited. It must be used after desensitization, and emergency preparation for allergic reaction should be made at any time.
2.People who are allergic to one kind of penicillin may be allergic to other penicillins and penicillamine. Patients with allergic diseases such as asthma, eczema, withered grass fever and urticaria should be used with caution.
3.Penicillin aqueous solution is not stable at room temperature. The potency of 20 unit / ml penicillin solution at 30 ºC for 24 hours decreases by 56%, and the content of penicillin acid increases 200 times.
4.Electrolyte should be detected regularly when using this product in large dose;
5.Interference to diagnosis:
(1) During the application of penicillin, false positive results may appear in the determination of urine sugar by copper sulfate method, but the glucosidase method is not affected. (2) Intravenous infusion of this product may lead to the increase of blood sodium. (3) This product can increase serum alanine aminotransferase or aspartate aminotransferase
