Composition:
Each 5ml suspension after reconstitution contains: Flucloxacillin sodium eq. to 125 mg flucloxacillin.
Clinical Pharmacology:
Flucloxacillin has a good activity against beta-lactamase producers. Staphytococcus and it is stable in the preence of gastric acid and is rapidly and well absorbed from GIT after oral adminisration.
Indications and usage:
Flucloxacillin is use in the treatment os infections caused by beta-lactamase producers staphylococcus in the following conditions:
Impetigo, cellulites, otitis extema, osteomyelitis.
Listerial meningitis.
Staphylococcal endocarditis.
As an adjunct in pneumonia.
Contra-indications:
Flucloxacillin as other penicillin products must not be used for patients suffering from hypersensitivity to penicillin.
Side-effects:
Gastro intestinal: diarrhea, pseudo membranous colitis.
Hypersensitivity reaction: skin ashes, and urticaria.
Liver: Monderate elevation in the serum SGOT.
Precautions:
History of allergy.
False positive urinary glucose testing.
Renal impaiment.
Dose and administrations:
Mild to moderate infections: 500 mg eery 6-8 hours at least 30min. before food. The serious suffers will be added to 1000 mg every 6-8 hours, or directed under the doctor.
Children: directed by the doctors.
